Sort of sounds like a new version of the flu you might think but what it really is has made many people go a little cold and get confused.

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation, and it's the new privacy protection act that has been introduced into the European market this month. We would safely say that when you have been hit with emails and news you have asked yourself, "What has Europe got to do with my Pizza shop or plumbing business on the Gold Coast? "Well if you're in that sort of business your right and no need to open emails and get a little paranoid.

Well it's a good idea to know a little bit about GDPR as any business you do in Europe will be impacted by it.

In a nutshell, it's all about giving consumers a lot more protection on what they must supply data and privacy-wise, but most importantly? It stops APPs from taking information as easy as they did before. You know those Facebook things that ask you "What Movie Star you look Like" or "Who is your Secret Admirer" and you click yes and suddenly, they have gotten everything about you that you have ever posted on Facebook, your emails, contacts.

The result is you get spam emails, ads popping up in your newsfeed and you think, "wow, how did they know that"

GDPR basically has put a stop to what Information can be just taken from consumers, privacy control has been returned to the consumer. Keep in mind a lot of this was done without people even knowing, it was a matter of Software talking to software and just saying Ok here you go and swapping all sorts of data. Now? It's no longer that easy.
